Namesake: Noor Inayat Khan (1914-1944) was a British spy in WWII. She was the daughter of an Indian father and an American mother. Under the codename Madeleine, she was sent from the UK into occupied France to aid the French Resistance. The messages she sent back to London as a wireless operator behind enemy lines significantly aided the Allies success.
