This Silk Chiffon Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful ribbon yarn. Some edges are frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is an incredibly versatile color. Most of these ribbons measure 1/2″ to about 1″ across, with a few having lacy, fringed, or frayed edges for uniqueness. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
