Sari Silk Ribbon is made in India by women working through Fair Trade. They take what would otherwise be silk waste, from cutting sari silk for wraps and clothing, and sew the pieces end to end, occasionally tying ends, to make beautiful yarn. Some edges are fringed,frayed or lacy, adding physical as well as visual texture. Shown in different lights, this is a beautiful earthy, yet soothing colorway. These pictures really don’t do justice to this gorgeous muted colorway. They don’t pick up the luster, which is not super shiny but just right. Pictures in order of most accurate representation with first being closest. Ribbon width ranges from 1/2″ to about 1″ across with some areas thicker, up to 2″ or wider. Use them phat or strip them into thinner ribbon. Embellish scrapbooks, book covers, scarves, art yarn, luggage, wreaths or purse straps, even jewelry. Great in weaving, rug making, or plying into your OOAK yarns.
