The smoothnessand velvetiness of these pastels are the result of a perfect balance betweenbinder and pigment. For gradient shades, increasing amounts of mineral finesare added, ultimately tending towards white. Their exceptional brightness isdue to the quality of pigment used, as well as the natural mineral finesdiscovered by Sennelier in 1905, which have been used ever since.
It took Sennelier more than three years, at the beginning of the 20th century, toformulate this range of pastels, and thus creating one of the largest chromaticranges of pastels. Over the course of the century, this range of tones hasevolved, but its essence remains unchanged.
