In Sobreiro, a village in Portugal known for traditional pottery, Jos Franco grew up amongst a family of potters and dedicated himself to the craft from an early age. Being the entrepreneurial and original creative that he was, Jos stood out for his distinctive ceramics that included plates, wine jugs, flower vases and small decorative pieces, like this Animal Object. A Vida Portuguesa, a Lisbon-based, women-owned shop has brought the potters creations back to life through faithful reproductions. Each charming figurine is made from painted and glazed clay. They look equally at home on a bookshelf or on top of a dresser.
